PROM NIGHT

So Saturday was our DD Senior Prom. Doesn't she look great, her Dad was very proud of his baby. DD and her friend got ready here at our house, I forgot how much girls giggle when doing "girlie" things like hair, nails, and makeup. Their giggling is so great to hear you just have to join in. I can't believe the baby was headed of to her Senior Prom...uggg. 18 Days until Graduation, this year has flown by. I am very proud her.

felted prom bag

So DD wanted a felted handbag for prom. She says "hey mom, I really need a cute bag and only you can make what I want...PLEASEEEEE!" I of course can't say no so here is the bag that I made for her. Once it was felted I hand sewed all the clear glass beads with silver sleeves on the edge of the flap, handle, and across the front. She loves it. Oh what we do for our babies!!!!

Here It Is!!!!!!!

Okay so most of the painting is done!!!! I am so excited about this room, I finally get to do a room however I want and not worry about what it says to anyone else because it is mine. I feel like a little kid when I say that, LOL. So below are some pictures of the room, almost done, I did load in the exercise equipment and some of my craft things and the 2 chairs that I will be using in there.

The chair with Tootsie in it will be recovered in the chenille bedspread that she is laying on, and the rocker is my $5.00 garage sale find that I will be painting and recovering as well. I found the perfect fabric at JoAnn's and will go get some later this month. The shelves are being painted as I type and the TV will be going up in the corner on a stand kinda like in the hospital. I am looking for the right rug, and lamp. I have the valance all picked out just have to make it.

The little table in between the chairs is one hubby bought me a last weekend to go in "The Girlie Room". He just laughs when he looks in there shakes his head and says"as long as you are happy with it, and I like that it makes you smile." Aren't I lucky!?!?!?!?

I can't wait to get the shelves done and my yarn stash in there. I still have a lot left to do and will keep sharing as I go.So let me know what you think.

Oh sorry I forgot to set the camera date when I changed the batteries.

Now For The Paint

So last Friday I managed to get the rest of the walls spackled, sanded, and textured. Then on Saturday after working on the boat with my DH, I came in and started painting my craft room. I got the first coat on on Saturday. DH painted the ceiling on Sunday after church. When the ceiling was dry I put the second coat on. Below you can see the final results. This is just the base color, I have a couple more colors, and a couple of design elements left before you see the final stage of the walls.

The room has my cat Tootsie's seal of approval. She probably spends more time in there than I do right now ...LOL. Tootsie's favorite color just happens to be bright pink, so I guess she thinks that this is her room.

I had a bit of an accident on Monday and haven't been able to knit, paint, type or even do house work. Well sorta not do house work. I bruise a bone in my forearm and was told by the doctor to give it a rest, ice and not use it until it felt better. Now this might not seem like a big deal or even like a mini vacation but, I am making DD and felted handbag for prom. Prom is next Saturday so I have a knitting deadline. I like to be done with time to spare, I hate deadlines they always make me feel pressured. Well the arm was feeling better yesterday so I started knitting last night and hope to have it finished by Monday evening. Of course I don't have any knitting friends around here to help me out so I really hope I get it done for her.

I hope everyone has a great Mother's Day!!!

I get a Craft Room

So our son moved out this last weekend, I now get his room. I can do anything I want in it, it will be my "ULTRA GIRLIE ROOM". I am making a craft/workout room. So below are pictures of the room yesterday after I took the paneling down. Boy were there a lot of nail wholes, not to mention the damage to the walls. I have a lot of work a head of me to get this room done.

Below are pictures after I Spackle this morning. I am waiting for the Spackle to dry so then I can texturize the 2 walls to match the others. When we moved in to this house about 13 years ago we knew that the house had some issues, but boy we never expected the walls to have holes under the paneling. I really am enjoying this project, I have the colors all picked out and ready to paint as soon as the prep work is done. My goal is to have the room presentable by June 10th when we have Daughters Grad party here.
I still find myself walking in the room and missing my son. I had a hard time earlier in the week before I started this project. I couldn't even bring myself to open the door let alone go in there to start the work. Can you tell that this is the first child to leave home?!? So hubby told me to do whatever I want to the room, I have been planning this room for years and now I finally get to do it, I think that working on the room is making it easier to deal with the fact that my baby boy is a young man now, uggg. I will keep you updated on the progress as I go along.
I am off to sand and texturize the walls.
